Notification has been received from the Ayrshire Cattle Society of UK and Ireland that the above bull has been found to be 50% Ayrshire and 50% Red Holstein.
The Board discussed this issue at their meeting on 1 May 2013. The rules of Ayrshire New Zealand do not allow us to register any bull that is only half Ayrshire. As a result, both Changue Tryst and Highway Tourist (his son also marketed in New Zealand) will be de-registered as Ayrshire. All female progeny of both above bulls currently registered will be amended to S2A status and will therefore still be eligible for showing and production awards. Their subsequent progeny will remain at S2A status until such time as they reach A15 when they will progress to S3A status. Any male progeny will also be de-registered. This accommodation for female progeny will only apply where the semen has been used up to and including May 2013. Any female progeny from semen used from either bull after May 2013 will be registered at their appropriate status under current rules. Amendments to any progeny currently registered will be completed over the next few weeks.
