Ayrshire New Zealand National On Farm Challenge

Ayrshire New Zealand National On Farm Challenge

The Ayrshire New Zealand National On Farm Challenge, sponsored by Open Country Dairy and J Swap Stockfoods, is a competition designed to discover and acknowledge the best functional type Ayrshires within New Zealand. We encourage all breeders to enter cows without the cost of traditional A&P shows and without cattle being fitted.

Entry usually closes end of October annually, and judging takes place early December. The results are then presented at the Annual Conference.

The Glengordon Trophy is presented for the highest pointed cow overall, and the A & Scott Memorial Shield is presented for Class 7. For more information, see Special Awards.

About the Competition

Ayrshire NZ is providing an opportunity for Ayrshire breeders to participate in a competition designed to discover and acknowledge the best functional type Ayrshires within NZ. The competition is designed to encourage all breeders to enter cows without the cost of traditional A & P shows and without cattle being fitted.

We know that there are very good cows spread around the country that do not leave the farm to compete at shows and this competition is a great way to promote your herd.

The competition will run nationally and be judged by one judge selected by Ayrshire New Zealand. The highest pointed cow overall in each age group will be announced at the Annual Awards Dinner. The highest overall pointed cow through all age groups will receive the Glengordon Trophy.

For the purposes of the On Farm Challenge only, the Ward boundary between Wards 8 and 9 will be the Waitaki River and Ward 7 will be removed.
